you either know "Go" or you're deprived

[Selling allergy medicine as drugs]
Ronna: You know what makes it even better? If you take like a lot of pot with it. I mean like, like a lot of pot.

For the holidays it's not uncommon for families to rally together and watch frank Capra's love story to the perseverance of the everyday man against impossible odds through the help of direct divine intervention (personally I always felt everyone was better off without George Bailey who was holding back progress...got into a debate with a coworker once on that point). But as far as seasonal holiday movies go one film stands out "go"
Now I first encountered"Go" in college. A guy I had a crush on ranted and raved about it. You know how when you think someone is cute you try to woo em? Well...a few days later I rented it and fell in love.

"Go" gets called a poormans "pulp fiction" it's a stylized series of interconnecting vignettes involving gang members, drugs and their dealers, car chases through Vegas and confederated products...all set around Christmas time. Though not a central part of the movie it's presence is there (like "titanic")
but it is fashioned similar to holiday fare in the sense that it's"A" story isn't about it being Christmas. It gets overlooked largely due to content and what I presume is the depiction of realistic yet "irresponsible" drug use. It is for this reason that I make it a holiday point to watch it every year (right up there on the mental holiday list between getting a tree and martinelis sparkling cider).

Sarah Polley's character is put through a lot on the day of the celebration of the birth of the Nazareth... She goes from working a double shift to becoming a drug dealer and ending up left for dead in a ditch caused by a closeted couple of Hollywood costars out to take vengance on the person they both commited
infedility with...despite all of that Ronna martin awakens in a hospital...attached to life sustaining aparatuses and she...dirty...bloody...dazed and confused...goes to work her shift...ladies and gentlemen sis and not Ronna Martin hero to all the underdog working stiffs of the world...a day late...a buck short....Ronna Martin my hero..."Go" my holiday selection...screw you Zuzu and your petals.
